Polk County residents with overdue court fines have a rare chance to save money during Operation Green Light, April 13 through 17, 2026. Before heading to the courthouse, Bail America Bail Bonds urges anyone who thinks they may have an outstanding warrant to call first. A free warrant search could be the most important call they make.
BARTOW, Fla. - Floridant -- Operation Green Light is a one-week event hosted by Polk County Clerk and Comptroller Stacy Butterfield. The program gives Polk County residents the opportunity to pay overdue court fines and traffic citations in full while having additional collection agency surcharge fees waived. Those fees can add up significantly over time. Bail America Bail Bonds, a locally owned bail bond company based in Bartow, Polk County, wants to make sure every resident who wants to participate is able to do so safely and with confidence.

The Clerk's Office Processes Payments. That Is It.
The biggest reason people avoid paying overdue fines is fear. Many worry that walking into a courthouse means risking an arrest. The reality is that the Clerk's office is there to process payments, not to make arrests. Residents who owe fines on any type of court matter can walk in, pay, and walk out. One Exception Worth Knowing
An active bench warrant does not go away simply because a fine gets paid. These are two completely separate legal issues. The risk does not only apply inside the courthouse. If the vehicle being used to get there gets pulled over, every person inside is at risk. A passenger with an active warrant can be arrested just as easily as the driver.
"We want people to take advantage of this program," said Doug Moore, owner and licensed bail bondsman at Bail America Bail Bonds. "But if there is any chance a warrant is out there, find out first. That one call could make all the difference."
