NAPLES, Fla. - Floridant -- Avow is offering a Father's Day Barbeque Dinner for children in the community who have lost fathers or father figures. The complimentary dinner is Friday, June 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Aunt Janet's house on the Avow campus, 1301 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples.
Children and families in the community are invited to bring an adult figure with them for games and activities for children and adults including corn hole, can jam, spike ball, virtual reality, Jenga and board games, along with barbecue dinner.
"Our team will be available to provide emotional support while we honor the fathers we miss and cherish time with current father figures," said Lea Pascotto, Avow Kids Manager. "Participants can look forward to making new memories."
The event is part of Avow Kids, a program to help children deal with loss and create coping skills to handle big emotions. Avow Kids, designed for children ages 5-17, supports children and families experiencing the loss of a parent, sibling, friend or relative. Additionally, the no-cost services help children process and heal from other types of loss, including divorce, instability in the foster care system, deployment, incarceration or the loss of a pet.
