FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Floridant -- The PLA It Forward Foundation announces its next upcoming event, the 2nd Annual Community Heroes Recognition Event. This inspiring evening will take place on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM EST at the PLA Sports Bar, located in Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, 1 Seminole Way, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33314.

The event shines a spotlight on the remarkable contributions of individuals who have made a lasting impact on their communities. 7 outstanding local nominees, selected for their exceptional dedication and service, will be celebrated for their unwavering commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of those around them.

"In a world where acts of selflessness and courage often go unnoticed, it's our mission to shine a spotlight on those individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and service to our community. Today, we are proud to honor seven remarkable local heroes who have gone above and beyond in their respective fields, making a significant impact on the lives of others." says Terry Lee, PLA Sports Bar CEO and PLA It FORWARD Foundation Founder.

The honorees are:
  • Jeff, a compassionate cancer nurse, has consistently exhibited unwavering dedication to his patients.
  • Rehana, an ER nurse, embodies the essence of quick thinking and expertise.
  • Lisa, whose leadership and dedication to volunteer work have created a ripple effect of positive change in our community.
  • Austen, whose swift and courageous actions as a grocery store manager went beyond his job description when he intervened to save the life of someone having a heart attack.
  • Larry, a police detective whose commitment to upholding justice has left an indelible mark on our community, and he does it all while being a "BIG" for the local Big Brothers Big Sisters program.
  • Michael, whose role as a jiu-jitsu teacher for children with special needs goes beyond physical training.
  • Daniel, a director for Operation Underground Railroad, leading the charge against Child Sex Trafficking and advocating for victims' rights.

"We are excited to bring together the community to recognize and celebrate these unsung heroes who have selflessly devoted themselves to improving the lives of others," said Terry Lee.
